SIKA RAINTITE – ACRYLIC WATERPROOFING
Description
Sika RainTite is a thixotropic, cold-applied, elastic material based on polymer-modified acrylates. This innovative product forms a seamless, joint-free, watertight membrane that boasts flexibility and elasticity. Furthermore, once cured, it stands strong against the damaging effects of UV radiation. Notably, Sika RainTite can also be used for complete waterproofing with a decorative finish on corroded corrugated metal sheets.

Construction Instructions
To make the most of Sika RainTite, follow these construction instructions:

Substrate Preparation
- Ensure that the surface is clean, sound, and properly cured.
- Mechanically remove all loose materials, preferably with a wire brush.
- Iron and steel surfaces should be free of rust.
Application – Without Membrane
- For porous substrates, apply the first coat of Sika RainTite diluted with 10% water as a primer layer.
- Allow for sufficient drying time (more than 3 hours, depending on ambient conditions).
- Apply Sika RainTite in two coats (approximately 0.3 kg/m² per coat) using a brush or roller.
Application – With Membrane
- For porous substrates, apply the first coat of Sika RainTite diluted with 10% water as a primer layer.
- Allow for sufficient drying time (more than 3 hours, depending on ambient conditions).
- Apply the first coat of Sika RainTite (0.8 – 1 kg/m²).
- Embed the Sika RainTite membrane into the first coat while it is still wet, ensuring that the membrane is thoroughly embedded, and smooth out air pockets and creases. Overlaps of adjacent membranes must be a minimum of 50 mm.
- Immediately apply a second coat (0.8 – 1 kg/m²) of Sika RainTite while the first coat is still wet to saturate the membrane from both sides.
- When dry, apply a final top coat (~0.4 kg/m²) to complete the application. Protect from rain until dry.
Cleaning of Equipment
- Remove uncured Sika RainTite with water.
- Cured material can only be removed mechanically.
Important Considerations
- Ensure that the ambient and surface temperatures are below 35°C during application.
- Do not attempt application if rain is imminent.
- Avoid applying screed mortar on top of Sika RainTite.
- Prevent ponding water on top of Sika RainTite.
- For roof applications with a membrane, the minimum slope should be 3%.
