CONSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONS
Properly executing the construction with Weberanc Epoxy 2K requires attention to detail. Below are comprehensive instructions to ensure your construction or repair project is a success.
Substrate Preparation
- Curing Time: The mortar and concrete must have cured for a minimum of 28 days before applying Weberanc Epoxy 2K. The specific curing duration may vary depending on the required strength for your project.
- Substrate Strength: Verify the strength of the substrate, whether it’s concrete, masonry, or natural stone. It should meet the necessary requirements for your construction.
- Surface Preparation: Ensure that the substrate surface, regardless of type, is clean, dry, or slightly damp (with no standing water), and free from contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, or existing surface treatments and coatings. Any impurities can compromise the bond.
- Steel Substrates: If your project involves steel substrates, thorough cleaning and preparation are essential. This typically involves blast cleaning and vacuuming. Additionally, avoid working under dew point conditions, which can affect adhesion.
Mixing
- Preparation: For pre-batched units, it’s crucial to prepare for mixing by gathering the required components and tools.
- Mixing Tools: Use a mixing spindle attached to a slow-speed electric drill (with a maximum speed of 500 rpm) for the mixing process.
- Mixing Procedure: Follow these steps for thorough mixing:
- Begin by measuring the appropriate quantities of Components A and B.
- Combine Components A and B in a clean container in a 1:1 ratio.
- Use the mixing spindle to blend the components together for at least 3 minutes or until the material achieves a smooth and uniform grey color. It’s essential to avoid air entrainment during mixing.
- After mixing, pour the entire mixture into a clean container and stir again for approximately 1 minute at low speed to minimize air entrapment.
- Mixing Quantity: Mix only the quantity that can be used within the specified pot life of Weberanc Epoxy 2K.
Application
- Thin Layer Adhesive Application: When using Weberanc Epoxy 2K as a thin layer adhesive, follow these steps:
- Apply the mixed adhesive to the prepared surface using a spatula, trowel, or notched trowel. Ensure a uniform and even spread of the adhesive across the surface.
- Pay attention to the thickness of the adhesive layer and ensure it meets the project requirements.
- Repair Mortar Application: When applying Weberanc Epoxy 2K as a repair mortar, consider the following:
- Use suitable formwork to mold the repair mortar to the desired shape.
- Ensure that the repair mortar is applied evenly and fills any voids or cracks completely.
- Bonding Metal Profiles onto Vertical Surfaces: For projects involving bonding metal profiles onto vertical surfaces, adhere to these guidelines:
- Support and press the bonded components uniformly using props. The duration of support may vary, typically for at least 12 hours, depending on the thickness applied (not exceeding 5 mm) and room temperature.
- Rebar Anchoring: If you are anchoring rebar, drill holes that are 1-3 mm wider than the diameter of the rebar. Make sure the rebar is securely anchored using Weberanc Epoxy 2K.
Storage & Shelf Life
- To maintain the product’s effectiveness, store Weberanc Epoxy 2K in undamaged and unopened original sealed containers. Keep it in a protected area shielded from direct sunlight in dry and cool conditions, with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 30°C. Proper storage ensures that the product remains usable within its specified shelf life of 24 months from the date of production.
Cleaning
- Immediately clean all tools and application equipment using an appropriate cleaner. Once Weberanc Epoxy 2K has hardened or cured, it can only be removed through mechanical means. Proper cleaning helps maintain the tools and equipment for future use.
