SIKA ANTISOL S – CONCRETE CURING AGENT
DESCRIPTION
Sika® Antisol® S is a ready-to-use solvented spray-applied liquid curing agent designed to prevent water loss from the surface of freshly placed concrete. It creates a micro-crystalline seal in the concrete pores, significantly reducing moisture evaporation rates. Moreover, its application does not hinder the adhesion of subsequent treatments to the concrete surface.
APPLICATION
This versatile product finds its application in a variety of scenarios, making it an indispensable choice for construction professionals:
- Treatment of Vertical Surfaces: Ideal for surfaces that require subsequent treatments or where resin/water-based curing membranes are unsuitable.
- Exposed Concrete: Well-suited for buildings, manufacturing industries, hangars and loading areas, retaining walls, pre-stressed structures, irrigation channels, and civil engineering structures.
ADVANTAGES
Sika Antisol S is packed with a host of advantages that can revolutionize your construction projects:
- Generally improves the surface appearance
- Reduces cracking
- Assists in achieving the required strengths
- Reduces shrinkage
- Controls cement hydration
- Reduces dust formation

CONSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONS
Proper application of Sika® Antisol® S is essential to ensure optimal performance and long-lasting benefits for your concrete construction project. These detailed construction instructions will guide you through the process:
1. Surface Preparation:
Before applying Sika Antisol S, it is crucial to prepare the concrete surface properly:
- Remove Formwork: Begin by removing the formwork from the freshly placed concrete.
- Dampen the Surface: Thoroughly dampen the concrete surface with fresh water. This step allows surface water to drain off, creating an ideal foundation for Sika Antisol S application.
2. Vertical Surfaces Application:
If your project involves vertical surfaces, follow these steps:
- Spraying Technique: Use an appropriate application equipment, such as a hand-type backpack or motorized sprayer.
- Fine Mist Application: Spray the Sika Antisol S product as a fine mist to completely cover the concrete surface. The fine mist application ensures even coverage.
- Consistent Pressure: Maintain consistent pressure in the application equipment to achieve uniform coverage.
3. Horizontal Surfaces Application:
For horizontal surfaces, such as slabs or floors, apply Sika Antisol S as follows:
- Spraying Technique: Utilize the same application equipment as for vertical surfaces.
- Even Coverage: Spray the product in a fine mist to ensure complete coverage of the horizontal concrete surface.
- Pressure Maintenance: Similar to vertical surfaces, maintain consistent pressure in the application equipment for uniform application.
4. Important Considerations:
Throughout the application process, consider the following factors:
- Timely Application: Apply Sika Antisol S at the earliest practical time after the concrete surface is ready to receive the curing compound. This ensures maximum effectiveness.
- Regular Equipment Cleaning: To prevent nozzle blockage, regularly clean the spraying equipment during application. This maintenance step is essential to maintain consistent coverage.
- Protection from Environmental Factors: After application, protect the treated surface from direct sunlight, severe dry wind, or rain for at least 2–3 hours, depending on ambient conditions. This safeguard ensures the product sets effectively.
- Film Removal: Before applying any additional screed or coating, remove any remaining surface film created by the Sika Antisol S application.
- Enhanced Durability: In cases where a highly durable, abrasion-resistant surface is required, such as in severe exposure conditions, apply a further coat of Sika Antisol S after 3 days. Subsequent surfacing systems can be applied after 7 days.
- Crack Prevention: Early application of Sika Antisol S helps reduce plastic shrinkage cracks by limiting water evaporation. However, it won’t prevent long-term drying shrinkage cracks. For this, standard concrete practice must be followed when positioning construction joints and shrinkage control joints.
By following these construction instructions meticulously, you can harness the full potential of Sika Antisol S, ensuring that your concrete structures benefit from reduced moisture loss, improved surface quality, and enhanced durability. Your construction projects will stand the test of time and environmental conditions, maintaining their integrity and aesthetics for years to come.
