Maxbond 328E: Single Component Exposed Grade Waterproofing System
Product Overview
Description: Maxbond 328E is a high-quality single-component, cold-applied, and exposed grade waterproofing system. The cured membrane is designed to be highly flexible, allowing for light human activities and traffic, and is resistant to UV radiation. It exhibits excellent adhesion to various surfaces, including concrete, masonry, bricks, UPVC, plywood, and metal.
Design Features
- Liquid-Applied System:
- Simple surface preparation and easy application procedure.
- Offers practical quality control under site conditions.
- Seamless Waterproof Membrane:
- Forms a homogeneous waterproof membrane without seams or lapping.
- Ensures a continuous and effective barrier against water ingress.
- Elasticity and Substrate Movement:
- Exhibits excellent elasticity, accommodating moderate substrate movement.
- Visual Inspection and Rectification:
- Permits easy visual inspection and rectification when used as an exposed membrane system.
- Fully Bonds to Substrate:
- Forms a strong bond with the substrate.
- Does not permit water migration in case of puncture, allowing for easy repair to localize the affected area.
- Resistance to Dirt and Chemicals:
- Resistant to dirt accumulation and mild chemicals.
- Maintains durability in challenging environments.
- High Solid Content and Low VOC:
- High solid content of more than 93%.
- Low VOC (volatile organic compound) of less than 100g/L.
Performance Data and Recommended Areas
Recommended Areas:
- Concrete and metal roof as an exposed or concealed system.
- Landscape and planter boxes.
- Balconies, courtyards, and air-con ledges.
- Basement slabs and retaining walls.

Surface Preparation
- Substrate Conditions:
- Fully cured, sound, clean, and dry.
- Remove cement laitance, mildew, oil, grease, asphalt, sealer, loose material, and foreign substances.
- Preparation Steps:
- Pitch substrate to gutters and water downpipes.
- Level honeycombs, voids, and cracks above 2mm with non-shrink repair mortar.
- Sand rough surfaces and eliminate sharp protrusions.
- Brick walls to receive upturns should receive a skim plaster prior to waterproofing.
Installation Procedure
- Mixing:
- Stir with an electrical mixer for 1 minute before use.
- Application:
- Apply Maxbond 328E with a paint roller or brush at 0.9kg per m² to achieve a 0.7mm wet thickness.
- Allow coating to become touch-dry and proceed to apply the second coat at the same rate and thickness.
- For exposed installations subject to intense sunshine, apply one coat of Maxbond 328P UV Protection Coat between 12 to 48 hours after finishing Maxbond 328E membrane.
- Water ponding test may be conducted 24 hours after the last membrane application.
Packaging and Coverage
