WEBERSEAL PU: THE ULTIMATE JOINT SEALANT
Description
Weberseal PU is a one-part, moisture-curing elastic joint sealant designed to meet the needs of general-purpose building construction. It excels in sealing joints, offering exceptional adhesion to most substrates. Whether you’re working with concrete, wood, metal, or other materials, Weberseal PU is a reliable choice.

Application
Sealing with Versatility
Weberseal PU is a versatile solution, ideal for various substrates in building construction joints. It’s perfect for concrete, brick, wood, metal, aluminum, PVC sections, stone, and ceramic tiles. This makes it an all-in-one sealant that can adapt to a wide range of construction needs.
Construction Joint Filling
When you need a higher modulus and lower movement capacity for low-to-medium movement conditions, Weberseal PU has you covered. Use it for connections between floor-floor, floor-wall, or wall-wall joints. It’s also excellent for seam sealing, sealing pipe ducts, window and door frames, facades, cladding, and joints in metal or wood construction.

Construction Instructions
Sealing joints effectively with Weberseal PU is vital for ensuring the longevity and durability of your construction project. Follow these detailed construction instructions to achieve the best results:
1. Surface Preparation
Before applying Weberseal PU, proper surface preparation is crucial to ensure adhesion and longevity:
- Ensure the substrate is homogeneous, clean, and dry. There should be no standing water or moisture on the surface.
- Remove any oil, grease, dust, or loose particles from the joint area. For cleaning, use suitable solvents such as MEK, acetone, or a grease remover.
- In the case of deep joints, it’s essential to install a backing rod. The backing rod prevents three-point adhesion and helps maintain the proper joint width-to-depth ratio.
- For metal surfaces, rub them down if necessary, and then re-clean the surface.
- Clean concrete surfaces with a metal brush and remove dust afterward.
2. Application Process
Once the surface is properly prepared, follow these steps for applying Weberseal PU:
- Cartridge Application:
- Cut the end of the threaded stub on the cartridge.
- Screw on the nozzle and cut the nozzle at a 45-degree angle to achieve the desired bead size.
- Apply even pressure on the cartridge gun and extrude the sealant firmly into the joint to ensure complete contact with the joint faces.
- Smooth the sealant finish with a spatula if necessary.
- Sausage Application:
- Cut the wire-clamped end of the sausage.
- Fit the open end of the sausage into a fully enclosed barrel gun.
- Apply even pressure on the gun, extruding the sealant into the joint to ensure complete contact with the joint faces.
- Smooth the sealant finish with a spatula if necessary.
3. Masking Tape Removal
- After application, masking tape should be removed within 10-15 minutes to ensure a clean finish. This step is essential for maintaining the aesthetics of your project.

4. Cleaning
Proper cleaning of tools and application equipment is necessary for maintaining the integrity of your tools and ensuring the effectiveness of Weberseal PU:
- Clean all tools and application equipment immediately with a suitable cleaner. Ensure that no sealant residue is left on the tools.
- In the case of uncured material that needs to be removed, use a suitable solvent or an approved sealant remover. Ensure the joint area is free from any uncured sealant.
5. Design Criteria
When designing your joints, consider the following criteria to ensure the joint width is within the movement capability of the sealant:
- The joint width must be between 10-35 mm for most applications.
- The width-to-depth ratio should be approximately 2:1 for general purposes.
- For wall and floor joints, the recommended width-to-depth ratio is approximately 1:1.
6. Storage and Shelf Life
Store Weberseal PU correctly to maintain its effectiveness:
- Keep the product in an undamaged and unopened original sealed container.
- Store in a protected area, away from direct sunlight.
- Maintain a dry environment with temperatures between +10°C and +25°C.
- The shelf life of Weberseal PU is 12 months from the date of production when stored in these conditions.
7. Limitations
Be aware of the following limitations when using Weberseal PU:
- Do not use Weberseal PU as a glazing sealant.
- Avoid applying Weberseal PU on bituminous substrates, natural rubber, EPDM rubber, or building materials that may bleed oils, plasticizers, or solvents that could damage the sealant.
- Over time, color change may occur due to UV exposure, but this has no effect on the mechanical properties of the cured product.
- The adhesion of Weberseal PU is low on PE, PP, and PTFE.
- Weberseal PU is not resistant to organic solvents, organic acids, or high-concentration alkalis/acids.
By following these detailed construction instructions, you can ensure a successful application of Weberseal PU, providing strong, durable, and moisture-resistant seals for your construction projects.
