LEAFSEAL WP503 | THE CRYSTALLINE CAPPILARY WATERPROOFING COATING
Product Overview
Description: LeafSeal WP503 is a one-component, penetrating crystalline waterproofing powder based on Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). It is designed to waterproof and protect concrete or masonry render through the crystallization process. The reactive chemicals in WP503 penetrate and integrate with the concrete, reacting permanently in the presence of water. This waterproofing solution is suitable for high water pressure applications on both the positive and negative sides.

Specification Clause
All areas indicated on the drawings shall be waterproofed with LeafSeal WP503, a crystalline reactive waterproofing compound, or similar approved.
Consumption
- Normal internal & external surface for waterproofing: 0.8 kg/m²/coat, required 1-2 coats.
- Concrete for waterproofing & hydrostatic pressure resistance: 0.8 – 1.0 kg/m²/coat, required 2 coats.
- Concrete slab, concrete component – by dry spreading: 1.4 – 1.6 kg/m²/coat, required 1 coat.
Shelf Life
LeafSeal WP503 should be stored in the original unopened packaging in a cool and dry warehouse at 30ºC and 50% relative humidity for a maximum of 12 months.
Packaging
LeafSeal WP503 is supplied in 25kg/bag or 20kg/plastic container.
Substrate Preparation
- Remove remaining concrete fins, projections, general surface dirt, grease, oil, and other contaminants.
- Use appropriate methods such as steam cleaning, high-pressure water blasting, sand blasting, wire brush, or other mechanical methods to prepare surfaces suitable for LeafSeal WP503 crystals to penetrate.
- Clean and prepare surfaces and seal cracks and joints.
Mixing
- Depending on purpose, add approximately 20% to 32% of water to every bag or plastic container by weight of LeafSeal WP503.
- Mix for approximately 3 to 5 minutes using a mechanical mixer to achieve a lump-free, homogeneous, and creamy consistency.
- For vertical surface application, reduce water to minimize runoff.
Application
- Apply LeafSeal WP503 by brush or spray on dampened surfaces.
- Apply in 2 coats at right angles. The second coat should be applied while the first coat is firm but still ‘green,’ usually about 3 to 4 hours after the application of the first coat.
- If subsequent decoration is required, protect the treated surface with a cement/sand render.
Curing
- LeafSeal WP503 should be protected from rapid drying due to high temperature or strong wind.
- Cure by plastic sheet or mist spraying for at least 3 – 5 days.
- Curing compound is not suitable for use with LeafSeal WP503.
Product Limitations
- Do not apply LeafSeal WP503 at temperatures below 5ºC or onto dry substrates.
- Protect freshly treated surfaces from rain and traffic for 24 hours.
- Subsequent plaster, render, or tiling system can be applied approximately 48 hours after completion.
- Coatings can be applied over LeafSeal WP503 treated surfaces about 2 weeks after completion. Neutralize the surface with a diluted vinegar solution or diluted muriatic acid (1:8 to water) to increase adhesion.
Safety Data
As with cement products, care should be taken to avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and skin. Wear a face mask to prevent dust inhalation. In case of eye contact, wash immediately with water and seek medical treatment.
