Fosroc Brushbond FLXIII | High-technology polymer modified elastomeric waterproofing membrane system for concrete and masonry surfaces
Brushbond FLXIII is a high-technology, polymer-modified elastomeric waterproofing membrane designed for concrete and masonry surfaces. Here’s an overview:
Uses
- Suitable for buried structures like bridge abutments, culverts, and retaining walls.
- Used on non-trafficked reinforced concrete roof decks, often combined with an appropriate drainage system.
Advantages
- Applicable to damp substrates.
- No primer required.
- Elastomeric nature.
- Capable of bearing occasional foot traffic when fully cured.
- Pre-blended two-component system ensures quality control at the site.
Standards Compliance
- Complies with EN1504-2 standards for Surface Protection Systems.
Description
- A two-component polymer-modified waterproof membrane supplied in ready-to-mix kits.
- Comprised of specially selected cements, graded aggregates, and additives in powder form, along with a liquid component of polymers providing adhesion, resilience, flexibility, toughness, and durability.

Instructions for Use
Preparation
- Surfaces must be free from oil, grease, wax, or any foreign matter that might affect adhesion.
- Spalled concrete should be removed and repaired using the Fosroc Renderoc System.
Mixing and Application
- Mix the liquid and powder components gradually for 3-4 minutes until lumps disperse. Apply within the recommended pot life.
- Pre-wet the substrate surface thoroughly with water using a brush or spray. Remove excess water using a sponge.
- Apply using a brush, roller, or trowel in one or two coats as needed.
- Recommended thickness for resurfacing and light foot traffic areas: two coats of 500 microns each (totaling 1mm thick).
Cleaning
- Remove immediately after use with clean water. Hardened material requires mechanical removal.
Limitations
- Avoid application at air or substrate temperatures above 40°C. Minimum application temperature is 3°C and rising.
- Overcoat with Nitoproof UVR Topcoat for long-term exposure to direct sunlight.
- Shelf life of 12 months if stored properly.
Precautions
- Wear gloves and goggles. Wash off splashes with clean water. Minimize dust formation and use a mask if necessary.
- For porous substrates like Gypsum board, apply Nitobond AR before Brushbond FLXIII.
Brushbond FLXIII offers a seamless, elastomeric waterproofing solution with adherence to various standards, ensuring durability and resilience on concrete and masonry surfaces.
