Fosroc Conbextra GP | General purpose, high flow, Class A shrinkage compensated grout – (gaps 10mm to 100mm thickness)
Conbextra GP is a cementitious grout designed for various general-purpose applications like eliminating shrinkage when filling voids, grouting stanchion base plates, and anchoring fixings such as masts and anchor bolts. Here’s a breakdown of its uses, properties, and application instructions:
Uses
- General-purpose grouting for void filling and grouting between a base plate and substrate.
- Suitable for anchoring fixings like masts and anchor bolts.
Description
- Shrinkage-compensated (non-shrink) cementitious grout provided as a ready-to-use dry powder.
- Mixing with a controlled amount of clean water produces a flowing grout suitable for gap thicknesses from 10mm to 100mm.
- Contains graded fillers and chemical additives for controlled expansion in the plastic state, minimizing water demand and ensuring high early strength.
Advantages
- High ultimate strength and low permeability for durability.
- Gaseous expansion system compensates for shrinkage and settlement.
- Applicable through dry packing, ramming, trowelling, pouring, and pumping.
- Pre-packaged material ensures consistency.
- Develops high early strength without chlorides.
- No metallic iron content to cause staining.
- Non-hazardous per Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals.
- Non-shrink according to ASTM C1107:2020.
Properties
- Compressive Strength: Ranges from 34 to 75 MPa at 28 days depending on consistency.
- Flexural Strength: 13.6 MPa at 28 days.
- Setting Time: Initial set at 5.5 hours, final set at 7.5 hours.
- Fresh Wet Density: Around 2200 kg/m³ depending on consistency.
- Alkali reactive particles test: Non-reactive.
Application Instructions
Preparation
- Ensure the substrate is free from oil, grease, or loose material. Defective concrete surfaces should be cut back to a sound base.
- Abrade or roughen surfaces for maximum bond.
- Provide air pressure relief holes in the base plate.
Mixing
- Use a forced-action mixer for 3 to 5 minutes at a slow speed.
- Always add powder to water. Different consistencies require varying water amounts per 20kg bag.
Placing
- Place the grout within 20 minutes of mixing.
- Can be placed in thicknesses from 10mm up to 100mm in a single pour.
- Maintain continuous grout flow and ensure proper grout head.
Pumping
- Suitable for pumping with a maximum aggregate size of 0.7mm.
Curing and Cleaning
- Thoroughly cure exposed areas after completion of grouting.
- Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with clean water.
Limitations
- Consider low and high-temperature working conditions for optimum performance.
- Comes in 20kg moisture-resistant plastic bags.
These instructions guide the preparation, mixing, placing, and post-application care to ensure the effectiveness of Conbextra GP in various construction applications.
