MasterLife GF 300 – Expanding plasticising agent for cement based grouts, mortars and concrete
DESCRIPTION
MasterLife GF 300 is a chloride-free, dry powder additive engineered to provide high fluidity to standard sand-cement grout mixes while maintaining a low water-cement ratio. Its design compensates for mild plastic shrinkage typically encountered in site-batched grouts during the plastic state.
Recommended for situations where site-batched grout mixes are necessary or preferred due to site conditions, MasterLife GF 300 finds typical applications in:
- Grouting of cable ducts in post-tensioning work.
- Filling gaps between prefabricated wall panels.
- Underpinning work.
- Pre-packed grouting of cavities.
- Grouting of rock strata.
- Soil stabilization grouting.
- Grouting inaccessible voids.
However, it’s not advised for grouting applications where consistently high strengths and total shrinkage compensation are paramount. For such needs, referring to Master Builders Solutions for recommendations from the Masterflow range of precision grouts is recommended.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
- Shrinkage Compensated: Counters mild plastic shrinkage, maintaining filled volume.
- Setting Times: Influences setting time of the grout mix based on cement type and quality.
- Increases Fluidity: Enables complete filling of even narrow voids.
- Lowers Water Demand: Results in denser grout with increased strength properties.
PROPERTIES
- Supply Form: Powder
- Colour: Cement grey
- Storage Temperature: 10-40°C
- Application Temperature: >10°C
PREPARATION
Ensuring clean, well-graded, and dry sand is paramount. Checking the moisture content of the sand is crucial if wet. Adequate quantities of MasterLife GF 300, sand, cement, and other cementitious materials should be available before commencing grouting. Surfaces must be free from dust and sealed properly, especially in cable ducts, to prevent future grout leakage. Saturating the grouting area with clean water before work is also necessary.
Properly designed formwork tailored to the grouting space is essential for effective grouting. It should be sturdy, grout-tight, and well-braced against fluid pressure until the grout sets. Sealing and coating formwork surfaces before starting the grouting operation are imperative.
Mechanical mixing is mandatory, and segregation should be avoided through trial mixes and adjustments to the mix proportion or sand quality.
PERFORMANCE DATA
- Dosage: Add MasterLife GF300 at a rate of 0.2 to 1 kg per 100 kg of cementitious materials.
- Placing: Grout should be placed within 15 minutes after mixing, without interruptions.
CURING
Uniformly coat exposed grout surfaces with Masterkure 181 once the grout reaches a touch-hard state.
ESTIMATING DATA
Consumption of MasterLife GF 300 depends on the void volume and the types/proportions of cementitious materials used.
PACKAGING
Available in 10 kg multi-ply paper sacks and boxes containing 40 sachets of 0.2 kg each.
SHELF LIFE
When stored in tightly sealed original packing, it can be stored for 12 months in a dry place.
HEALTH & SAFETY
While non-toxic, it’s alkaline like regular cement and requires handling precautions such as gloves and face masks.
EQUIPMENT
Requires grout mixers, pumps, and cleaning tools with water before grout hardening.
In summary, MasterLife GF 300 enhances grout fluidity, compensates for shrinkage, and augments grout properties, making it an effective solution for diverse grouting scenarios.
