HYPERCOAT ACRYL – High-Performing Water-Based Acrylic, Elastomeric Waterproofing Coating
Description:
HYPERCOAT ACRYL is a water-based acrylic elastomeric coating designed for waterproofing, insulation, and protection. It can be easily applied on both vertical and horizontal surfaces, forming a seamless, elastic, and hydrophobic membrane with high resistance to UV and mechanical stress. The application can be done using a brush, roller, or airless spraying in two or more coats, depending on the final use requirements.
Recommended For:
- Waterproofing, insulation, and protection of concrete roofs, metal roofs, fibrous cement, gypsum and cement boards, cement slurries, and tile floors.
- External walls.
- New or old acrylic waterproofing coats.
Limitations:
- Not recommended for unsound substrates and areas immersed in water for varying time periods.
- Avoid application under conditions of extreme wet weather, imminent rain, or near-freezing temperatures.
- When covering cracks larger than 1.5 mm, HYPERCOAT® ACRYL may be reinforced with non-woven polyester tissue, requiring at least three coats.
- Avoid excessive coating thickness to prevent long drying times.
Advantages:
- Easy to apply and repair by spray, brush, roller, or trowel.
- High elasticity, tensile strength, elongation at break, and excellent adhesion.
- Forms a seamless waterproofing membrane system.
- Excellent weather and UV resistance.
- Good chemical resistance.
- Allows water vapor transmission, preventing blistering or peeling.
- Suitable for waterproofing walkable roofs.
- No appearance of holes in the surface during material curing.
- Eco-friendly (water-based).
Application Prerequisites: Successfully applied on concrete, fibrous cement, cement roof tiles, wood, galvanized steel, and PU foam. Standard concrete substrate conditions include specific requirements for tensile strength, surface humidity, temperature, and relative atmospheric humidity.
Application Procedure:
Surface Preparation:
- Remove loose and deteriorated materials using a high-pressure washer or mechanical wire brushing.
- Eliminate efflorescence, mold, mildew, dust, dirt, laitance, and standing water before coating application.
- Fill traces of chiseling or holes with mortar mixed with HYPERLATEX bonding agent.
Priming:
- Use HYPERPRIMER US as a suitable primer and apply according to its technical datasheet.
Apply HYPERCOAT® ACRYL:
- Mix HYPERCOAT® ACRYL thoroughly before application.
- Apply at least 2 coats on the substrate surface using a brush, roller, or airless spraying machine.
- Ensure coverage on corners, joints, and construction joints before covering the entire surface.
- The time between two coats is 6-24 hours.
Consumption:
- Horizontal surfaces: 0.4 ÷ 0.6 kg/m2 / 2 coats
- Vertical surfaces: 1.2 ÷ 1.5 kg/m2 / 2 coats
Cleaning: Clean all tools and equipment promptly with clean water.
Packaging: Available in plastic pails of 5 kg and 20 kg.
Shelf Life: The shelf life of HYPERCOAT® ACRYL is 24 months minimum in its original unopened pail in a cool and dry place. Once opened, the shelf life will be shorter, so it should be used as soon as possible.
Health & Safety Information:
