QUICSEAL 111 (formerly QUICSEAL 111S) – Crystal-Proof
Product Name: Crystal-Proof
Description: QUICSEAL 111 Crystal-Proof is a unique chemical treatment for waterproofing and protecting concrete. It comes in the form of a dry powder compound, consisting of Portland cement, very fine treated silica sand, and various proprietary chemicals. When exposed to moisture, the active chemicals penetrate concrete, reacting chemically with free lime to produce insoluble crystals. This crystalline growth reduces porosity, improving the waterproofing properties of the treated surface.
Uses:
- Waterproofing bathrooms, kitchens, yards, balconies, and gutters
- Tunnels
- Manholes
Advantages:
- Easy to apply and cost-effective
- Can be applied on green concrete
- Effective treatment for hydrostatic conditions
- Breathable
- Does not require protection during backfilling or placement of steel reinforcement
Surface Preparation:
- Concrete surface must be clean, free of laitance, dirt, paint coating, and other contaminants.
- Horizontal surfaces should have a rough wood float or broom finish.
- Remove existing coatings, smooth surfaces, or laitance through acid etching, sandblasting, or water blasting.
- Structural defects like cracks, faulty construction joints, and honeycombing should be routed out and repaired with QUICSEAL 516 WATERPLUG.
- Use QUICSEAL 111 Primer on porous substrates to consolidate before applying QUICSEAL 111.
Application:
- Slurry Coat: Mix 25 kg of QUICSEAL 111 with 6.5 liters of clean water. Apply with a brush or broom in two coats, allowing 2 hours between coats.
- Dry Shake for Newly Cast Screed and Concrete: Broadcast 50% of QUICSEAL 111 after the water sheen disappears. Towel to the desired finish. Apply the remaining 50% at a right angle to the first application.
- Finishing: Float the last coat to the desired texture with a sponge or wood float.
Curing and Protection:
- Begin curing as soon as QUICSEAL 111 reaches initial set, using CURE-SHIELD WB curing compound.
- Alternatively, keep treated surfaces moist and cured for a minimum of 48 hours by spraying with water three times a day.
