Technical Specifications

Properly applying Silatex Super is crucial to achieving a long-lasting and effective waterproofing solution. Follow these detailed construction instructions to ensure the best results:
1. Substrate Preparation:
- The surface must be stable, clean, and dry. Ensure it is free from dust, oil, grease, and loose materials. Protect it from rising moisture.
- Remove any poorly adhering materials and older coatings. Mechanically or chemically clean the surface to create an optimal base for adhesion.
- Depending on the substrate, you may need to perform appropriate mechanical preparation to smooth irregularities and create an ideal surface for application. The substrate should have the necessary slopes and be flat, smooth, and continuous, without holes or cracks. If the surface has imperfections, make sure to address them, such as by proper puttying.
2. Priming:
- Before applying Silatex Super, it is essential to apply the appropriate primer. The choice of primer depends on the substrate type.
- For cementitious substrates, we recommend using Revinex diluted with water in a 1:4 ratio. Alternatively, you can use solvent-based primers like Silatex Primer or Vinyfix Primer.
3. Application:
- After proper priming, you are ready to apply Silatex Super. Ensure that you have thoroughly stirred the product for uniform consistency.
- Apply Silatex Super in at least two layers. The first layer should be diluted with clean water by 5%.
- The second layer (and any subsequent layers) should be applied undiluted, and each new layer should be applied after approximately 24 hours.
- Each layer of Silatex Super should be applied in a vertical or different direction than the previous one to ensure thorough coverage.
4. Special Notes:
- Silatex Super should not be applied under wet conditions, or if wet conditions or rainy weather are expected during the application or curing period.
- Ensure that the substrate temperature during application and curing is at least 3°C above the dew point to avoid condensation issues.
- Continue the application on vertical surfaces (minimum 30cm) to form a uniform waterproofing membrane. For corners, construction details, joints, and crack coverage, apply Silatex Super locally.

5. Reinforcement (if necessary):
- In areas where there is an increased likelihood of stagnant water remaining for an extended period, it’s recommended to reinforce Silatex Super with the polyester fabric Neotextile.
- In such cases, you will need to apply at least three coats of Silatex Super locally. Ensure that appropriate slopes are created to facilitate water drainage from the roof.
6. Expansion Joints:
- For new cement screed, it is recommended to create suitable joints (approximately every 15-20m² of surface area and at a depth equal to about 3/4 of the thickness of the cement screed). Properly seal these joints, for example, using closed-cell PE foam cord and Neotex PU Joint after priming their sides.
- Create expansion joints around the perimeter, each with a minimum width of 1cm. Any existing joints in the concrete slab should be transferred to the new substrate.
By following these detailed construction instructions, you can ensure the successful application of Silatex Super for a watertight and durable waterproofing system. Proper preparation, priming, and application are key to achieving the best results and enhancing the longevity of your construction project.
