CONSTRUCTION INSTRUCTIONS
Waterproofing your construction project with Weberdry PUD Coat is a straightforward process when you follow these detailed instructions:
Substrate Preparation
- Check Moisture Levels: Ensure that the substrate is dry with a moisture content below 6%. High moisture can compromise adhesion and performance.
- Surface Inspection: Examine the surface for levelness and cleanliness. Remove any oil, dust, or debris. Any unsound areas should be repaired before proceeding.
- Temperature Check: The surface temperature must be maintained at least 3°C above the dew point at the time of application. This prevents moisture from forming on the surface.
- Priming (Cement-Based Substrate): Apply a primer coat of Weberdry PUD Coat by adding and thoroughly mixing 10% water to the product. This equates to approximately 0.4 kg/m2. Ensure even coverage.
- Bitumen-Based Coating: For bitumen-based substrates, ensure a good adhesion to the substrate. Prime the entire area and always use the “High Build System” for optimal performance.
- Metal Substrates: Metal surfaces must be in good condition. Abrade the surface to reveal bright metal, removing all rust and stains. If the metal is not sound, consider using epoxy or an appropriate primer for added protection.
- Wood Panel Roof Decks: Wood panel roof decks must be in good condition, firmly adhered, or properly mechanically fixed to the substrate.
- Tack-Free Time: Leave the primed surface to become tack-free for approximately 1–2 hours before applying the main two-coat waterproofing system.
Product Preparation
- Stirring: Thoroughly stir the product using a mechanical mixer to obtain a uniform material and color after opening the bucket.
- Water Addition: Do not mix Weberdry PUD Coat with water unless using it as a primer.

High Build System (Waterproof with Fleece)
- First Coat Application: After the primed area becomes tack-free (1–2 hours waiting time), apply the 1st coat of Weberdry PUD Coat, using approximately 0.5 kg/m2. This can be done using a roller, brush, or any suitable application tools.
- Drying Time: Wait for approximately 4–6 hours for the 1st coat to dry.
- Second Coat Application: After the drying period, apply the 2nd coat of Weberdry PUD Coat, using approximately 0.5 kg/m2. After applying the 2nd coat, roll in Weberdry fleece, ensuring there are no bubbling or creases. Edge overlapping of Weberdry fleece should be a minimum of 5cm.
- Final Coat Application: After approximately 12-24 hours for the reinforced layer to dry, apply the final coat of Weberdry PUD Coat, using approximately 0.5 kg/m2. Make sure that Weberdry fleece is completely embedded, and the surface is smooth.
Standard System (Waterproof without Fleece)
- First Coat Application: After the primed area becomes tack-free (1–2 hours waiting time), apply the 1st coat of Weberdry PUD Coat, using approximately 0.5 kg/m2. This can be done using a roller, brush, or other suitable application tools.
- Drying Time: Wait for approximately 4–6 hours for the 1st coat to dry.
- Final Coat Application: Apply the final coat of Weberdry PUD Coat, using approximately 0.5 kg/m2.
Tools
- Brush: A thick hair brush.
- Roller: Use a solvent-resistant, short-hair roller for a smooth application.
- Airless Spray Machine: This should only be used for standard systems. When using a spray machine, apply a minimum of 2 layers with a crisscross direction. The pump should have specific parameters for the best performance:
- Minimum pressure: 220 bar/min.
- Minimum output: 5.1 l/min.
- Minimum nozzle diameter: 0.83 mm (0.033 inch).
Additional Notes
- Joints: All joints should be treated with Weberdry fleece or webertape BE 14 for added waterproofing.
- Waiting Times: Waiting times between layers are based on a temperature range of 20 – 30°C with 50% relative humidity.
Limitations
- Rising Moisture: Do not apply on substrates with rising moisture. Always apply during falling ambient and substrate temperatures. Applying during rising temperatures may result in pinholes due to rising air.
- Temperature and Humidity: Ensure that the temperature does not drop below 8°C, and the relative humidity does not exceed 80% until the membrane has fully cured.
- Ponding Water: Do not allow temporary ponding to remain between coats on horizontal surfaces or until the final coat has totally cured. Brush or mop surface water away during this time.
- Insulation Boards: Do not apply directly onto insulation boards.
- High Traffic Areas: Not recommended for high pedestrian traffic. If heavy traffic is unavoidable, cover with appropriate materials such as tiles, stone plates, or wooden panels.
With these detailed construction instructions, you can confidently use Weberdry PUD Coat to waterproof your construction projects, ensuring long-lasting protection against the elements.
